È ufficialmente partita la stagione dei premi che ci condurrà agli Oscar 2021, le statuette dorate che quest’anno verranno assegnate nell’insolita data del 25 aprile. Soul, nuovo film Pixar, è senz’altro il candidato più forte per spuntarla come miglior film d’animazione e il film di Pete Docter ha intanto provveduto a trionfare alla cerimonia di premiazione dei Critics Choice Super Awards 2021, aggiudicandosi non solo il premio come miglior animato ma anche quello al miglior doppiaggio (andato a Jamie Foxx e Tina Fey (in versione italiana troviamo al loro posto Neri Marcoré e Paola Cortellesi).
Nella categoria di miglior film d’azione la spunta Spike Lee col suo ultimo Da 5 Bloods – Come fratelli, che ha avuto la meglio sul campione d’incassi della stagione 2020 Bad Boys for Life, mentre il miglior cinecomic della stagione, complice anche l’assenza di film dei Marvel Studios nel corso del 2020, è The Old Guard di Netflix.

Nel frattempo sono stati assegnati anche i National Society of Film Critics Awards, con i critici cinematografici (l’associazione è composta da 60 critici delle principali testate americane) che hanno tributato i tre premi principali a Nomadland di Chloé Zhao, vincitore di miglior film, miglior regista e migliore attrice a Frances McDormand. La 55esima edizione del premio, vinto l’anno scorso da Parasite che poi mise a segno uno storico successo agli Oscar, ribadisce quanto il film sia un frontrunner assoluto per i prossimi Oscar, anche considerando che ha già portato a casa il Leone d’oro a Venezia e il premio del pubblico a Toronto (indicatore storicamente fortissimo per l’Oscar al miglior film).
