Si è appena conclusa, al Beverly Hills Hotel di Los Angeles, la cerimonia dei Golden Globes 2020, i premi assegnati annualmente dalla Hollywood Foreign Press Association ai migliori film e programmi televisivi della stagione.

I Golden Globes aprono di fatto ufficialmente la fase più calda della stagione dei premi e, pur essendo assegnati esclusivamente dalla stampa estera di Hollywood, rappresentano per molti un’anticamera per capire cosa potrebbe accadere durante la Notte degli Oscar.

Trionfatore della serata è stato, un po’ a sorpresa, il war movie di Sam Mendes sulla prima guerra mondiale 1917, affermatosi nella categoria miglior film drammatico e miglior regista (lo vedremo nelle nostre sale solo a partire dal prossimo 23 gennaio). L’altro grande, indiscusso vincitore di quest’edizione è Quentin Tarantino, che con il suo C’era una volta a… Hollywood ha ottenuto la statuetta come miglior film comedy o musical e i riconoscimenti alla miglior sceneggiatura, andata allo stesso Tarantino, e al miglior attore non protagonista, agguantato da Brad Pitt. 

Miglior attore in un film drammatico è Joaquin Phoenix per la sua apprezzata interpretazione in Joker, mentre la miglior attrice nella medesima categoria è Renée Zellweger per Judy, biopic su Judy Garland. Nessun premio per The Irishman di Martin Scorsese, mentre Storia di un matrimonio di Noah Baumbach porta a casa il Golden Globe alla miglior attrice non protagonista per Laura Dern. Ancora sul fronte degli interpreti i Golden Globe come miglior attore e attrice in un film commedia o musical sono andati rispettivamente a Taron Egerton per Rocketman e ad Awkwafina per The Farewell – Una bugia buona.

Sul versante televisivo si è registrato invece il dominio di due prodotti seriali tra i più acclamati dell’ultimo anno: Succession (miglior serie drama) e Fleabag (miglior serie comedy), che hanno visto trionfare anche i rispettivi interpreti di spicco, Brian Cox e Phoene Waller-Bridge. La miglior attrice in una serie drammatica è Olivia Colman, per The Crown.
