Come da tradizione, il 25 febbraio 2012 torna a Los Angeles il Film Independent Spirit Awards, un giorno prima dei tanto agognati Academy Awards. Questa premiazione dedicata ai film indipendenti – o nello specifico alle pellicole con budget generalmente inferiore ai 20 milioni di dollari – contiene nomination importanti come Drive, diretto da Nicolas Winding Refn e interpretato da Ryan Gosling, e 50/50 con Joseph Gordon Levitt, selezionati tra ben 277 produzioni. A uscire vittorioso dall’edizione dell’anno scorso è stato Il Cigno Nero di Darren Aronofsky con 4 premi, mentre nel 2009 a vincere è stato The Wrestler, diretto sempre dallo stesso Aronofsky.
