Sono state rese pubbliche le nominations per i Film Independent’s Spirit Awards, la cui cerimonia si terrà il prossimo 5 marzo. La manifestazione statunitense, nata nel 1986 grazie all’organizzazione non-profit IFP/West (dal 2005 ridenominata Film Independent) per promuovere il cinema indie in passato, ha consacrato al successo numerose pellicole, divenute veri e propri cult internazionali. La kermesse ha spesso rappresentato per le pellicole premiate un trampolino di lancio verso gli Oscar. Tra le opere premiate negli scorsi anni come Miglior Film, ricordiamo ad esempio Platoon di Oliver Stone (che vinse 4 Oscar), Pulp Fiction di Quentin Tarantino (film Palma d’oro a Cannes nel 1994 e Premio Oscar per la Miglior scneggiatura originale nel 1995), Fargo dei fratelli Coen (vinse poi due Oscar) e, più recentemente successi, anche al botteghino, come I segreti di Brokeback Mountain, Little Miss Sunshine, Juno e The Wrestler. Chissà se tra i film favoriti di questa edizione, tra cui spiccano A Serious Man dei fratelli Coen, l’opera prima dello stilista Tom Ford A Single Man e la commedia romantica appena approdata in Italia, 500 giorni insieme del giovane regista Marc Webb.
